Pastoral Care at Saint Luke's

    A team of volunteers conducts a program of regular, systematic contact with Saint Luke's individuals and families who are beset with injury or serious illness. These volunteers make visits to hospitals, nursing homes, and homes and apartments. The Pastoral Care Team is in close collaboration with Cathedral clergy.

    Often included are home visits and telephone contact during extended recurperation or chronic illness, and special attention is offered to the needs of caregivers in such situations.

     Regular monthly meetings of the Team provide training, mutual support, and updating of information and consultation with clergy about needs.

    The goal of the Pastoral Care Team's work is to convey an active, caring presence by the Cathedral family for its members, offering emotional support and practical assistance in times of incapicitation and suffering. In short, we are involved with one another, and this is a very specific expression of that fact.
